There Be Dragons!

Hi all,

Just a few snaps of a dragon I've painted. This is a repaint of an old miniature I had, when repainting it I realised I've had the miniature for around 20 years!!! I seem to remember buying it from a little back street gaming shop in Cardiff for a about a £5, a quick Google search confirms it is The Red Dragon, produced by Grenadier Miniatures. Anyway here are the snaps of the dragon with some 15mm mini's for a size comparison.

Until the next time!

Castell Coch Part 2

Hi all,
Following on from my previous Castell Coch post, I thought I'd share some more work in progress pics. Most of the castle is built, I have the 3 conical roofs to complete, but everything else is ready to be covered in a bit of texture, using a plaster based paste. You can see I have given some of the castle a quick coat of the texture already.

Rear wall section, can be removed for ease of play.
Rear wall removed to view courtyard.
Top down view.
Gate house.
Side wall detail.
Well that's it for now, cya again!

Painting Update - Fantasy Humans

Hi all, just thought I'd upload some pics of what I'm currently painting.

General On Griffin. Both miniatures from The griffin is
from their HOT 15mm Fantasy range (HOT27), and the rider is from the
Tabletop 15mm Fantasy range (MDA42F).

I cut the rider in half and sculpted the legs and cape on. A bit
rusty at the scultping,  and first attempt at sculpting 15mm scale.

I am pleased with how it turned out.

Human Mounted Armoured Lancer's from Irregular Miniatures.

Human Mounted General &
Human Cavalry Standard Bearer,
 again from Irregular Miniatures.

The unit side on.
That's it for now, cya next time!

Castell Coch Rhan Un (Red Castle Part One).

Hi all, just thought I'd let you know how I've been spending my free time of late. I've gone back to my first war gaming passion, fantasy. It was Warhammer that made me catch the war gaming bug, back when there were Citadel Miniature stores, rather than Games Workshops, oh soooo long ago.... Anyway.

I decided to build a castle, my lord will need an abode after all. After looking for some inspiration on the interwebs, I went back to my place of birth, or just north to be exact, Tongwynlais. On the hillside above this sleepy little village stands Castell Coch, or Red Castle. It's a 19th century Gothic revival castle built as the holiday home for John Crichton-Stuart, 3rd Marquess of Bute. It is a lovely castle, very picturesque, more a fortified home really, but looks great ;) So this is what I planned to build.

I've been building it for a few weeks now, time permitting, not near completion yet. But, I thought I'd share some in progress photos with you.

As you can see, I made the back wall detachable, to help with painting the interior courtyard, movement of miniatures, and hopefully to use as a nice photo backdrop for miniatures.

I've also recently bought some 15mm fantasy miniatures from Irregular Miniatures and, also bought their USE ME High Fantasy rules. Thus far have only managed to painted one base of cavalry, a few pics below.

I'll post more pics when I've painted more of course, but for now.... ta ta.
