Meet Biggles!

Hi all,
Don't time fly, a month since I last posted and it's almost Christmas! I haven't had time to post this last month, been putting in a lot of hours at work, evenings and a few weekends. I haven't found a new-found love for work, oh no! The reason was, Biggles!

Hi all,  this month's miniature purchases have been spaceships. I ordered a few from GZG, and the Royal Navy Carrier Pack from Brigade Models.

Bits & Stuff

Hi all,
I'm back with a few photos of what I've been upto...completed a yard for the post office, I also made a bank, not sure if a future colony would need a bank, but I made one anyway.

Here's the two togeather.

Dropship Inbound

Just thought I'd share some work in progress pictures of a drop-ship I’m working on. Made from thick card, not to a plan, making it up as I go, like I usually do.

Dice Box!

Hi all

My lovely wife finally finished my birthday present, and only 3 months late! Only kidding, well it is 3 months late, but she was interupted by some building works being carried out, where she had to pack all her hobby stuff away, so I don't mind at all. Her hobby by the way is Pyrography, which is the art of burning pictures onto wood! and good at it she is too! You can check out her other items of wood burning greatness at her blog.

My wife had permission from the kind Mr Syme from theionage.com to reproduce the cover of thier forthcoming Patrol Angis rulebook, for this unique dice box. I'm chuffed with it and grateful to my lovely wife.

Infiltrators

Hi all,
I forgot to post a couple of pics last time I posted of a few alterations I have mad to a few Retained Knights from the Ion Age range. I figured that my army may need some scouts/Infiltrators, so inspired by a couple of  Ion Age's monthly miniatures (IMP01 and IMP09) I set to work with some Green Stuff!

Element Basing and Soul By The Sea!

Hi all,
Sorry I haven't blogged for awhile, life got in the way, but I'm back so hopefully will keep up the regular blogs.

So what have I been doing in my time away? Hobby wise, not that much I'm afraid. I did decide on element basing for my miniatures, both fantasy and sci-fi. I purchased a selection of mdf bases from 15mm.co.uk, so I could base my miniatures to use with Mayhem ruleset for fantasy games and Gruntz for sci-fi games (using the element rules in the back of the book).

Here is a pic of my complete fantasy human army. Using two bases of 50mm x 25mm to make up a unit base of 50mm x 50mm needed for Mayhem, and using a round 50mm bases (I did order 40mm round bases, but 50mm bases arrived instead and worked out well) for the heroes and artillery bases.

Bits & Pieces.

Hi all,

As I'm working on some scenery at the moment, I haven't painted much this week, had a few evening working late, which didn't help. I received an order from Gavin at 15mm.co.uk on Saturday and couldn't resist painting up one of the excellent Charger APC miniatures I ordered. Also got a few other miniatures painted, as shown below, hope you enjoy.

Painting Update 03 May 2014

Just a little update of my recent painting. Finally got all my Duxis Battlesuits painted. So got some pictures of those. I will get one more Duxis Battlesuit, so I have two units of three. Also finished the first of my three Skylarks, I didn't really know what colours I was going to paint it before, just made it up as I went along, but I'm happy with it.

A group shot.

Update 21 April 2014

While I spent this Easter weekend relaxing, sorry didn't do anything exciting, it gave me time to work on my miniatures. I sat down to scratch build some APC's for my Retained Knight Regiment. I've started to organise my miniatures in Lances à la Ion Age, so I have made three so far, enough for one Lance of Retained Knights

Retained Veteran Demi disembark from their Cheval APC.

Painting Update 13 April 2014

Hi all.

The last few months haven't seem much hobby time for me, but I am managing to get through my little lead mountain and not far from finishing, as much as you ever finish, my Retained Army.

Below is a picture of the whole army so far, followed by pictures of the individual units. Only a unit of Desteria Knights and a Duxis MkIIID 'Anti-Infantry' Battlesuit are left unpainted.

Warning: Image intensive post.

Orford Castle.

Orford Keep.

Today, my wife and I took a trip to Orford Castle. Orford is a village not too far from us in Suffolk, England. Only the keep remains intact on this site, which was built between 1165 and 1173 by Henry II of England to consolidate royal power in the region.

Duxis Battlesuit WIP Part Deux

Hi all, just a few snaps of my Duxis Battlesuit now that it's painted. I kept to the colour scheme of my Retained Knights, although added some white panels to break up the solid red. I plan to paint the heraldic shields different on each Battlesuit, to represent the pilot's heraldry, I'm sure elite Battlesuit pilots would display the family houses proudly.

On with the pics....

Duxis Battlesuit WIP

Hi all.
Last month I was lucky enough to have my wife buy me five Duxis Battlesuits as part of the Ion Age's Duxis Battlesuit Early Supporter Offer. They arrived promptly and in good condition as usual, however, they were supplied with the wrong hands. This wasn't a problem, I contacted Gavin at Ion Age who shipped out some more hands. Unfortunately the wrong hands again :) As I await another shipment of hands, from the very helpful Gavin, I have sent the 10 wrong hands back, I started to construct the Battlesuits.

Painting update 02/03/14

Hi all
Just thought I'd let you know what little painting I've done this month. I've finished off my Khartoum Planetary Defence Force, well not quite finished as Gavin over at Ion Age had released the excellent Khamel Tracked Bikes, which I'll be adding to the force.

He's also about to release the Early Supporters Offers for the awesome looking Skylark Patrol flyer, which I'll also be adding to the force, read the previews here, here and here.

Happy New Year!!!!

A bit late I know, but it is my first post of the year. Sorry about not posting, but truth be told, I haven't really done anything modelling wise. I've finished painting a few models, The Havelocks are done and a little bit of scenery, and that's it, a poor showing for a month I know.

But January hasn't been completely uneventful for me... the cooker broke, the freezer part of our fridge - freezer has died and the lounge TV went pop, literally! I've only replaced the cooker so far, so my miniature budget has been cut for the next month or two :(

I'll post some pics of the miniatures and what nots I've finished over the month soon, then hopefully the blogging will be back to normal.

Thanks

Mark
